Blueprint in BootPrints... By J. Co

Early last week in Glorietta, I dropped by The Ramp. As I quickly brushed through the dresses, I made a stop in the accessories area. Without a second, I hardly took my eyes off from a woman clad in an embellished bold floral top tucked in a high waisted denim with matching neon orange neck piece and printed shoes. Later did I discover that she is the designer of Cosmopolitan Clothing, the Chanel inspired stall that caught my attention. Accessory designer Ann Ong definitely did not look like the mom of Philippine Fashion designer John Paras, as she graced flavour and spice in her dainty yet hip outfit.

Spotted in Makati as well, I saw this young foreigner sporting an animal print overall vibe complemented by her military green suede boots. She is none other than Monalisa Neuboeck, a Philippine model from Germany who is very fond of animal prints ever since. She confessed,  "animal prints would always be a part of me."

After I left The Italian Festival Fashion Show held in Rustan Gallery late last week, I took a snapshot of Philippine Model Association of the Philippines' models who graced the runway. On the leftmost, Sanya Smith is rocking in her black with metallic embellishment top plus her unique, military inspired like boots whilst Valerie De Los Santos on the center is comfortably clad in white polo top with jet black latex leggings and stunning boots. On the rightmost, Marina Benipayo is in her dainty little black dress and animal print ballet flats.

From my spotted models and designer, I would say the most application fashion leadership theory is the trickle down as not everybody can pull off the outfits they have worn. By profession, I would consider them as fashion leaders since the fashion pieces they wore and model are adopted by the majority. Nonetheless, I find my catches as early adopters in the trend cycle since what they wore are gradually increasing in population.

    Mini Trend Guide

    • Animal Prints  Leopard spots, snakeskin, and tiger stripes—designers took a walk on the wild side for pre-fall 2010. Animal prints showed up on bags, boots, scarves, and gloves (at Dolce & Gabbana and Emilio Pucci); metallic and sequined skinny trousers, one-shoulder dresses, and jumpsuits (at Stella McCartney); and head-to-to looks (at Lanvin). Whether its an accent accessory or a full-on statement, we're guessing spots will be a continued theme for fall 2010 (http://www.coutorture.com/Pre-Fall-2010-Trend-Animal-Prints-Galore-7290850).

    • Boots  The first name, which comes to mind when you talk about shoe trends for 2010, is booties. Booties are not only comfortable but also look chic and stylish. Moreover, they are available in different versions ranging from fancy, retro, trendy, and sleek. They would go with anything you wear, be it skirt, pants, jeans to dresses and would up the style quotient by high measures (http://lifestyle.iloveindia.com/lounge/shoes-in-2010-6277.html).

    • High Waisted Denim  High-waisted denim is coming back in style, but the modern look of the high-waisted jean is striking a different tone in its modern form. High-waisted denim today is part of a look that’s preppy and sweet at the same time (http://www.www.helium.com/items/1857572-fashion-trends-high-waisted-denim).

    • Floral  Flowered patterns have dominated most spring summer 2010 runways, in particular the ones that took place in Milan Fashion Week. Looks like again, designers are going back to basics and they show their understanding to the women wanting to accentuate their feminity. Floral look ideas for Spring Summer 2010 season include bright and juicy floral prints and floral embellishments on the clothes (http://fashion-allure.com/style/floral-print-spring-summer-2010-trend/).

    • Orange  Orange-red, this is the most important color scheme for summer-ready shoes. Using that as a basis, try different shades like fire engine red or burnt orange. As long as it’s bright, pop-y and bold, it’s a go (http://www.manilastandardtoday.com/insideLifestyle.htm?f=2009/october/12/lifestyle4.isx&d=/2009/october/12).

    • Neon  These neon styles are all about "peacocking" and prove you don't have to spend a lot of money to say "Look at me!" Bold wardrobes are all what you wear, not who you wear. These fashions express that subtly is out, and big and bold is in (http://www.trendhunter.com/trendreports).
