I was with my friend in Carolina’s – Greenbelt 5 when I decided to look at the people passing by. Then I saw an eye-catching girl with her dad. Without a second thought, I run over to take a picture of her. That’s when I realized that she’s not a teenager and the guy I thought her dad is her husband. I think she’s around 50-55. It was so nice that she still managed to take care of herself and still look fabulous at her age. She’s wearing a sleeveless rompersuit with a dramatic ruffle collar, paired with a Christian Louboutin Privatita platform slingbacks and carrying a plain black tote bag.
The trend is one-piece romper.
Just to give a brief history of romper suit: Rompers appeared in the United States of America in the early 1900s.[1] They were very popular as playwear for younger children because people thought they were ideal for movement.[2] Rompers were in many ways the first modern casual clothes for children. [3] Styles and conventions varied from country to country. Since 2006 rompers have enjoyed a minor renaissance as a fashionable garment for women. Several designers have presented collections including romper suits and they are offered by many retailers. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romper_suit]
I guess the fashion leadership theory for this is trickle-up theory because rompers started as playwear for younger children since 1900. And it was only in 2006 that rompers were presented and reinterpreted by several designers in their collections. The stage I think is still at it’s peak (Early Majority) because it is more mainstream and comes in various price levels. I guess, the people who will normally wear this is a career woman, maybe likes to go out of town sometimes – the socio-economic status is A, upper B and B, middle class.
