Trend spotting meant a small reunion for me...by Aoui Cabrera

Okay so we were asked to go to greenbelt to spot trendy fashionistas of Manila today. Unfortunately we only saw a few and we felt that it was not enough. Maybe because it was not the best time to spot in that mall. I only saw two and lucky me one of them used to be an ABS-CBN artist. She carried her outfit well not because she’s pretty but because of the way she mixed things up. This made her stand out for me… Simple yet catchy. She wore a scarf over a simple top paired with jeans. And fantabulous shoes to give a kick to her outfit… oops and not to forget a snake's skin bag which is becoming a hit again…It is something I would definitely wear. anyway I was so frustrated that day because I was really looking for more. Some one who’s gonna give me the ‘wow’ factor. Someone who is so shot and blog worthy if you know what I mean..But don't get me wrong I like this outfit as well, I just feel like I want to look for more. It was sooo hot that day and we were walking around and suddenly I just gave up and I said to myself okay Powerplant it is. I live near it and I know that every time I go there fashionable people are just around..

Fortunately while I was having dinner at Gourmet to go I saw my high-school friend Sue Ong, passed by in front of our table.. the first thing that register to me was that, 'hey that’s a shot worthy outfit.' That is something I would wear and that’s definitely what I will put in my blog. By the way she works for Rockwell’s marketing group, thus the corporate-ish outfit. All of a sudden trend spotting became a small reunion for me and my friend, whom i have not seen for quite some time.

So she is wearing a top that has a Jabot collar paired with a high-waisted trousers with a purple belt, to have some sort of a ‘breaker’ for the outfit. Im so loving her bag and shoes. Everything had harmony. Classy, elegant, still fashion forward and professional. Definitely my style!! hehe=) By the way, Jabot collar is a standing collar with a pleated, ruffled, or lace trimmed frill down the front. Oxford English dictionary traces collar in its modern meaning to 1300. Todays shirt collars descend from the ruffle created by the drawstring at the neck of the medieval chemise through the Elizabethan ruff and its successors, the whisk collar and falling band. The fashion leadership that applies to this trend is trickle across. I believe that this trend is recurring. It comes and it goes back too often. So my point is whether it’s not the trendiest thing now in the so called trend cycle chart it’s still a hit for me. You just have to know what to pair it with. Working professionals, who definitely do not want to look boring will be the best target market for this type of style. Which is obviously my friend=)
